ALEX SEBBY FOUNDER OF WORDS OF VETERANS
Alex K Sebby is a third-generation U.S. Veteran. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when he was seventeen before graduating from high school in Minot, North Dakota. He was an honor graduate of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, California. Alex completed Marine Combat Training. Then was sent to The Defense Information School (DINFOS) at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.
During his enlistment, Alex held the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 4611, Combat Illustrator. Combat Illustrators create 2D and 3D artistic and illustrative products for use in various applications. These applications include but are not limited to briefs, training, and investigations.
He received an honorable discharge in July 2003, just months after the invasion of Iraq. Alex went on to complete a Bachelor of Digital Media with Honors and a Master’s Degree in Journalism. Upon completing school he worked at a non-profit and managed a 3D Architectural Imaging Studio.
After resigning from his management position, he worked various jobs in five federal government agencies over a span of 10 years. Alex is grateful for the lessons learned in the U.S. military.
Many Veterans face challenges every day and struggle long after their service is over. Alex, like many others, believes It is up to all of us to support them and honor their sacrifices. It’s important that they receive the care and resources they need to heal and thrive.
Alex Sebby: Empowering Veterans
Alex’s most challenging experience as a U.S. Veteran has been witnessing his younger brother Andrew Maxwell Sebby’s battle with a traumatic brain injury over the past 10 years. Andrew suffered from this injury while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Despite Max’s diagnosis, he continues to live his life thanks to the immense love and support of our family and friends. Max currently resides at a long-term care facility for brain injuries in Maryland.
This is the type of support that Alex aspires to achieve for all Veterans who need it. Alex continuously works towards building Words of Veterans into a global newsletter with over a million subscribers. He sees this as the fundamental contribution he can make to aid in the camaraderie between Active Duty Military, Veterans, and non-combatants here in the United States of America.
The Words of Veterans blog consists of biographies of famous U.S. Founding Fathers, military generals, and patriots. The blog aims to push America to take action, build a better tomorrow, and always remember that freedom is something earned, not given. In one generation freedom can be taken away at any time.
